What is Bing Webmaster Tools?

Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft's free service that shows site owners how Bing crawls, indexes and displays their site, including how often Microsoft's AI features cite it.

Why Bing Webmaster Tools matters

Its AI Performance report, launched in public preview in February 2026, shows how often Microsoft Copilot, Bing's AI summaries and select partner integrations cite your pages. A June 2026 update added Citation Share, your share of the citations shown for a query.

How Bing Webmaster Tools works

  • You verify your site, for example by importing it from Google Search Console, and submit your sitemap.
  • Reports cover indexing, search performance and crawl issues.
  • AI Performance lists total citations, cited pages and grounding queries.

How to apply it

  1. Verify your site and submit your XML sitemap.
  2. Turn on IndexNow so Bing hears about page changes quickly.
  3. Check AI Performance monthly for your most-cited pages and grounding queries.

Example

A law firm sees in AI Performance that its fees page is its most-cited page, so it keeps the fees current and links its service pages to it.

Common mistake

Ignoring Bing because its search share is small, and missing a report that shows AI citations directly.
